VICTORIA BERGMEISTER
In the prime years of German motorcycle prodution ie 1953 to 1955 the top manufactures all seem to want a flagship or top of the range model .DKW RT350, Triumph/TWN ‘Boss’ Hoffmann ‘Gouverneur’ Maico ‘Taifan’ to name a few! and the concern of Victoria was no exception,so with sales running high.Victoria employed the skills of top designer Richard Kuchen. Before the war he had designed a shallow V twin for Ardie .but was it was only a prototype, and never went into production,
After the war his expertise in designing engines with clean lines were in demand,The first design was the Zundapp 601 (grun Elephant)although the origins were from about 1936 with the K600, The Hoffmann concern then was next in line with there ‘Gouvernuer’ and about the same time ,he came up with the ‘Bergmeister’ for Victoria the last two engines, were of very clean lines ie no induction tracks showing, carbs hide behind cowlings, and all three gearbox’ were driven by chains, duplex for the Zundapp and Victoris and single for the Hoffmann.

Brochure showing standard 'Bergmeister' The above Bergmeister, i find the most attractive, probaly because of that great looking 'teardrop' shape tank.'Bergmeister Sport model with larger chrome tank
