‘Bergmeister’ PROBLEMS

Once the’Bergmeister’ was in its new home and with enthusiasum running high! lets take a look at main part of the bike ie the engine!Although the picture shows a engine looking almost complete, none of the internals were in place. That is where you always get problems! and in the case of the ‘Bergmeister’ lots of expensive ones .First thing that i noticed, was the camshaft busche was ‘Kapput’so off to a engineering firm ,who know there business.

Engine internals .showing the badly damaged camshaft busche

With a new busche in place, the engine parts were taken to vapour blasting process for cleaning. The next problem!!! came with the pistons and barrelsThe bike came with looked like new pistons(which they were!) but they were too differant sizes and larger than the barrell also one of the barrels was damaged with a large 20mm piece missing from the bottom skirt, also on one barrel lots of damage on the finning, about 5 fins were broken The end result was i needed 2rebores,2 new pistons,1 resleeving and work done on the finning!

Barrels after work done on finning and resleeving

Crank restored,and in position
